DV Dude Retirement & DV Shop Closing

After 25 years of 6 and 7 day weeks, it is time for DV Dude to say goodbye and exit stage left.

The lease for the store was coming up for renewal, and I have made the decision to pack it in while we are on top. After mulling this over for a year, I decided I didn’t have the fire in my belly to do another 5 years of running the store. I am turning 61 years old, I am healthy physically, mentally, and financially; 25 years was a good run; and it is time to smell the roses, do some travelling and photography, and catch up on my Netflix Watch List.

Our last day of operation will be Friday, September 18, 2026.

I have no idea what the future holds - this will mark the beginning of the Third Act in my life. I plan to take a year off, and catch up on all the house projects that I have put off for the last 25 years. After that, who knows? I will be doing something - just not sure what that “something” is yet.

Enough About DV Dude - What About Sean?

Sean is setting up his own company - Cine Storage Plus Inc. - that will concentrate on storage solutions, computer equipment aimed at video, and have a small selection of selected video production equipment. His store will open October 1 to the public. It will be located in the West Mall/Dundas Street area of Etobicoke. He decided taking over DV Shop was too much for him, and wanted a more manageable product selection and operation. I don’t blame him.

And finally, I just wanted to thank our customers and suppliers for all the help and support over the years. It has been a wild ride of technological change.
